the little storm that couldn't [19 Aug 2008|07:08pm] miss_bronte [ mood | bored ] Some people have lost their lives due to flooding caused by this storm in the Caribbean, which is truly tragic, but all that Fay accomplished in Central Florida was knocking out some schools and businesses from normal operations, offering newscasters a fleeting shot at a Pulitzer for great reporting (which instantly devolved into rain-soaked boys reporting on what could have been) and forcing me to watch the Hannah Montana movie with my six-year-old niece.  I went over to Longwood to see Jenna and Alex, both of whom were thrilled to see their aunt (or at least the Diet Coke I was carrying, which both promptly divested me of) and found myself on the couch with 3-D glasses wrapped around my eyes being forced to watch the most dreadful film I have ever, ever seen.  Dreadful.  I came home, fell asleep on the couch, and then was awakened by three urchins who came to visit.  My fervent apologies to Tiffy, James, and Adri if I was less than hospitable-- I fell asleep the second you left.  And I will get together with you this weekend! School started yesterday, and now I have to start over tomorrow.  Whoohoo. Turns out that all my denial did no good--Fay is going to roll right over Central Florida and dump a lot of rain on us; school has been canceled tomorrow, which is just as well because today was exhausting.  I made it all day in heels and tried not to get too sucked in to colleague drama.  Right now I feel like I got hit by a truck--this new bell schedule sucks.  SUCKS.  And I ripped my new dress--it got caught in one of the heels when I tried to restore a picture I knocked over in the front office after school.  Oh, well.  So far 37 isn't too bad.  I'm a prime number!
